The Ghatam is a clay pot from
South India played as an instrument. One of the oldest instruments
in India, the ghatam is found by other names in other parts
of India. It is played with the fingers, hands, and fingernails.
The instrument is made to a specific pitch,
though fine tuning is available with addition of puddy inside
the instrument. Its construction is of earthen with iron, copper
or brass and is further mixed with egg.
